Liam: 6 Months

Weight: 17 pounds 3 ounces 44%
Height: 26 1/4  inches 32%
Head Circumference: 45.5 96%

Clothes: I have you in all 9 month pants for your height but most of them have to be rolled at the waist. You have a tiny waist and no booty! Some 6 month sweatshirts/shirts still fit you but I'm mostly just sticking with 9 month clothes. We are still lucky to have you in a lot of hand-me-down clothes. I so appreciate this because you sure grow out of clothes fast!

Diapers: Size 3!

Health: The first day of month 5 you started feeling under the weather.  You had a slight fever and were very congested.  We ended up taking you in to the doctor after a few days and you tested positive for RSV. I felt so bad for you.  You couldn't sleep, coughing, runny nose, and had a fever for a whole week! Your dad and I each took off some time for work and kept you out of daycare for 3 days.

Once we finally got through that we took you to the doctor to check on your head and found out you had a double ear infection. The good news - your head is staying the same.  The doctor said this is perfectly normal and we are doing everything we can for you. (keeping you off that side of your head as much as possible) The bad news - you needed to start antibiotics for your ear infections. If we didn't go to the doctor we probably would have never known you even had an ear infection.  You never let us know.

Towards the end of the month we found out that your classroom had an outbreak of the chicken pox.  We were in a 15 day waiting period to see if you would get the pox.  Luckily, the parent mistook the pox for a rash.  I'm also pretty sure that this entire month you have been teething.  You are constantly drooling, everything goes in your mouth, and you have been way more fussy at night.  No teeth yet, I just wish they would make an appearance already! This month hasn't been the most healthy, but it also could have been much worse. Luckily, your dad an and I have jobs where we can take off if needed.

Diet: Oh boy! We have done some major changing in this category this month.  You really got into solids AND you started formula. Technically you started solids last month (right before you turned 5 months old). This month we added sweet potatoes, carrots, apples, bananas, and squash to your diet.

You are now eating two ice cubes in the morning and two more in the evening.  (I freeze your food in ice cube trays). You cry at the end of eating. You are such a good eater now.

Now on to this formula - boo! I didn't want to start formula but I just had to.  I was down to 4 bags left in the freezer and it was stressing me out that I wouldn't have enough milk to give you the next day at daycare. My friends wanted to go out for a girls night and I wanted to say no because I wouldn't be able to feed you. That's when I knew it had to change.  I should be able to go out if I want to. I love you to pieces, but I need a life too! I got some free samples of formula for you, and it was disaster. You hated it. I did some research on different brands and I finally found one you liked. Formula is expensive and it smells awful! Luckily, right now I just have to give you one bottle of formula at daycare. I still breastfeed you in the morning, send 3 bottles at daycare, and feed you twice at night. Life is much less stressful now and I think we are both happier! :)

Sleep: I'm not really sure what happened to your sleep schedule, but it is pretty much nonexistent now. You sleep when you want. I really wish I had you on a schedule, but I just think you are happier this way. At daycare you usually take 2-3 naps.  They are short and sweet, about 30 minutes long. You usually sleep when you get home from daycare.  You most definitely need a nap somewhere between 4:30-5:30. This has been a must since day one! On the weekends I think I do a pretty good job of reading your sleep cues.  You take longer naps on the weekends, but that is because I hold you. I know it's bad! But you won't let me do it forever!! I know you CAN sleep in your crib, you do it Monday-Friday.

At night, oohh boy! You used to go to sleep between 7:00-8:00.  Not sure what happened, but you hate going to sleep. I have found it's much harder to try and make you sleep when you have zero interest in it.  So I let you play!  I sit you up on a blanket and you play with toys.  As soon as I see your tired cues I immediately scoop you up and it's much easier to get you to sleep. You still sleep through the night for the most part.  There were a few nights where you woke up in the middle of the night to nurse, but I think you were going through a growth spurt those nights. You are sleeping upstairs like a big boy, but don't worry I have your monitor volume way up and it's right next to my head!

Likes: sitting, lifted up and down in the air, playing with toys, music and dancing, laughing with your mom and dad, baths, exersaucer

Dislikes: getting your nose suctioned out, getting out of the bath, getting your nose wiped

Milestones: I feel like you have grown so much this month.  Just in one week you were loving solids, sitting up all by yourself, teething, and playing with toys.  It was crazy. I literally blinked and you were this independent baby. You love to play! Your favorite toys to play with right now are blocks and plastic rings. You are so strong on your belly.  You still aren't fond of tummy time, but we do our own version when you are laying on our stomachs. You can roll from your back to your stomach with our help, it is something that we are working on.  I think once you master this skill you will be a tummy sleeper! You love to stand.  You will hold yourself up on us and just bounce.

Personality: I love you so much! So does your dad! We are kind of obsessed with you. You have such a personality this month.  You are so much more independent this month, which is great for everyone. You could sit on a blanket and play with your toys for hours. You smile constantly and are such a happy boy. You are constantly watching your dad and I, and are very interested in everything we are doing. You change all the time.  I miss you and your newborn stage, but I think this stage is a lot of fun as well. I love watching you explore the world and learn new things.  It's so much fun.

Visitors:  No visitors came here, but we saw a lot of people up in Syracuse!
