Liam: 5 months

Weight:
Height:

We didn't go to the doctor this month, but I would have to guess you weighed about 15.5 to 16 pounds.

Clothes: You started wearing 9 month clothes at the end of this month.  You wear all 9 month PJs mainly because of your height.  You wear some 9 month clothes, but are also wearing 6 month clothes. I washed all your 9 month clothes so they are all ready to go when you are ready for them.

Diapers:  You are still in size 2, but we just ordered size 3 on Amazon.  They should be here soon. Your dad was very sad that you were moving up a size.

Health: This month you have been very healthy.  You have shown more of a cranky side, especially at night, but I think that is just normal baby stuff.  We go back to have a look at your head very soon.  I think it is getting better.  This month you have spent more time off your head and more time playing with your toys.

Diet:  You are still breastfed.  I'm so thankful I have been able to feed you for so long.  I still have a freezer stash from when you were born, but it is definitely getting smaller and smaller.  I am trying my best to keep up with your demand at daycare.  You are a hungry boy there! You eat 3 (6 ounce) bottles while at daycare, and I feed you once in the morning and twice after daycare. We will see how this whole breastfeeding thing goes. My goal was to feed you through 2013, and I have made that goal. If I can't keep up, we will supplement with formula.  In order to avoid formula we started you on solids.  You haven't been on them long, you started just 5 days ago. We started you with avocado. I'm pretty sure you hate it.

Sleep: Still sleeping through the night...thank you!! You started sleeping upstairs this month in your crib.  We all did really well with the transition.  It is actually nice to be able to go into my bedroom and turn on the lights and make noise before I go to sleep.  I sleep with your monitor right next to my head and have the volume turned up WAY up.

Likes: baths, music, your dad and I (you love to smile and laugh with us), talking, sitting/standing (with our help), mirrors, being raised and lowered in the air, sucking on your fingers and feet, and KC

Dislikes: the usuals: getting your nose sucked out, clipping nails, eating solids, getting out of the bath tub (man you love that thing!)

Milestones: We started you on solids and you began to take more of an interest in toys. Your have complete control of your head. You enjoy sitting up, but still need our assistance to help you out. You will sit for just a little bit and then fall forward. You are getting there!

Personality:  This month you are still your happy self! You love to smile and are so easy to make laugh. I love how happy you are. We noticed a difference in your personality at night.  You hate going to bed. You would scream and cry.  It was very difficult on your dad and I because we weren't used to that side of you at all. We got through it.  It didn't last too long, maybe a week. You just don't like going to bed.

Happy New Year!!!

I'm sort of sad to see 2013 go! It has been an amazing year.

We became a family of four!

We spent our whole first year in our home.

We had a great time celebrating a few of Liam's firsts.  The holidays were especially fun!

Greg started a new job in management.

Greg graduated from NC State with his MBA.

Greg and I went on a cruise and had a blast!!

Bring it on 2014! It's going to be hard to beat 2013.

2013 month by month recap

Here is a look back at 2013.

January:  We heard Liam's heartbeat for the first time.

February: We told the world we were expecting.

March: We celebrated my 27th birthday and found out we were having a boy! Greg also started his new job!

April: We enjoyed a babymoon cruising around the Caribbean.

May: The inside of our house got painted. . . majority of the inside. (That's the most exciting thing I can remember, it was kind of a boring month.)

June: Greg was off school for the month, so we were busy getting the house ready for Liam. We traveled to the beach for a wedding.

July: We celebrated Greg's 33rd birthday and 2 years of marriage.

August: Our baby boy was born!

September: First date night as parents.  Liam had his first babysitters: Aunt Erin and Cousin Becky. We went out to eat at Bonefish.

October: Liam celebrated his first Halloween and I went back to work.  Liam started daycare at the end of the month.

November: Liam celebrated his first Thanksgiving and Greg and I went on a date to see "Ghost" for a delayed Anniversary present.

December: Greg graduated from NC State and we celebrated Liam's first Christmas in North Carolina.

Liam's First Christmas

We spent our first Christmas just the three of us in NC. Of course we were sad not being able to see our families and friends on Christmas day, but we sure did enjoy each other's company.  We normally jam pack our Christmas breaks full of things to do.  It was kind of nice to have almost two weeks off work just at home with the family. Liam had a great time.  He was held constantly and was spoiled rotten. Everyone tells me to enjoy it while I can, because it won't last forever. I did just that!

On Christmas Eve we went to church at Crosspointe. After church we came home to a brisket dinner followed by the opening of one Christmas present.

Liam is laughing at KC in this picture. No one can make him laugh like KC.

Christmas morning began with some breakfast made by Greg and the opening of presents. Liam must have been a very good boy, Santa brought him lots of things! Liam also had lots of presents under the tree from our family and friends.

One of his big presents was this exer-saucer.  He LOVES it!

One of our most prized possessions.  Our neighbors (at the time I was pregnant) made this stocking for Liam. It is something Greg and I will always treasure.  They moved back home before Liam was born.  One day we hope they can meet one another.

Matching bed heads!

After hours of Christmas movies and snuggles on the couch we got dressed and went over to the Stewart's for a Christmas dinner. When you don't have family in town it is nice to have friends that turn into family.

Lane and Grant are awesome with Liam. I know he will want to be just like them when he gets older.

I love this picture because it completely describes Lane and Grant relationship right now with Liam. Grant just wants a boy to play with, he is quietly reading Liam books. Then there is Lane, she just wants a human baby doll! And Liam - he just goes with the flow.

Even KC got to join in on the Christmas dinner!

Liam's first Christmas came and went by way too fast.  I enjoyed every moment and can't wait til next year. Or can I? - pulling ornaments off the tree, tugging on Christmas lights, knocking down decorations, etc. etc.
