First day of School

I refer to daycare as school.  It sounds better and makes me feel less guilty about leaving Liam at daycare all day long.  Liam started SCHOOL on October 28th.  I had to go back to work. I was supposed to go back when Liam was 8 weeks old.  Then I pushed it back to 9 weeks because Greg had a business trip.  I decided I couldn't do that either. I went into work and pushed it back even further.  When I went into work and asked for more time from my boss he said, "When do you think you will be ready to come back?" I said, "When Liam is 5 and he can come to school with me!" The truth is I will never be ready to leave Liam, but it had to happen eventually.  There were so many nights I wanted to call my work and say sorry I can't come back. I would wake up at night and plan my speech in my head and I honestly felt good about it.  Then I would wake up the next morning and think "I can do this!  I don't need to quit."

Honestly, I've never wanted to be a stay at home mom.  From the moment I got pregnant I never imagined myself staying home. I have always thought I would have children and work.  That's what my mom did.  So the decision seemed easy for me. Once you have a baby that all goes out the window. Of course I would LOVE to stay home.  Greg is completely all about it, which actually didn't help my decision at all. In my mind I know I need to try working. I have to give it a shot and see how it goes. It is also a plus to really LOVE your job. I don't get paid anything, but I love the people I work with.

So when Liam was 11 and a half weeks old, off to work I went. And off to school he went.

Greg and I decided the first day of school we would do drop off together. We packed his bag with everything he would need.  We were ready. As soon as I pulled into the parking lot the tears started. His teacher eventually took him from me as I stood in his room crying.  She assured me he would have a great day.  I looked up at Liam and he had a huge smile on his face.  It was like he was saying, "It's okay mommy, go to work! I'll be fine." Everyday gets better and no more tears have been shed. It probably also helps that Greg does drop off and I do pick up.

Happy Halloween!

Liam celebrated his first Halloween on his 12 week birthday. Needless to say, he was super excited about it! Greg and I rushed home from work and took pictures immediately. We let our dinner get cold and off we went to visit some people in the neighborhood. We've learned in these 12 weeks that usually our dinner does get cold, and that's okay.  That is what ovens and microwaves are for.  You only have your first Halloween once in a lifetime.

Liam was a lion for Halloween. It was actually Devin (his cousin's) costume from when he was a baby. I just figured it would fit him since all of Devin's clothes have fit him so far.  I shouldn't assume things.  The costume was a little too small.  Luckily, it had a zipper so we just didn't zip it all the way. Problem solved!

The cutest lion we have ever seen - we aint LION!

Liam has been smiling more and more lately.  It's so fun to catch him smiling for pictures.

It is truly crazy how much we love this little guy.  He is the coolest person we know!

He is our WILD ONE!

Even KC joined in the festive holiday!

Aunt Emily

Although she isn't Liam's "real" aunt, I hope he will still think of her as one.  Emily is one of my oldest friends so she is practically like a sister to me. So in my books that makes you an aunt!

In September, Emily came down for the weekend. She has been planning this since April, so she was pretty excited to get here. Unfortunately, her flight was cancelled the night she was supposed to arrive so our weekend was cut short.  Luckily, she just wanted to spend time with  Liam so we had plenty of time to do that. Greg and I literally have to remind ourselves that people aren't here to see us anymore.  They don't care if they sit around and hold a baby all weekend long, that's what they traveled for.

We got a little adventurous and went out to eat and the Farmers Market.  Liam was such a stud, he bought his Aunt Emily a white pumpkin to match her white apartment!

Liam's first pumpkin. He doesn't look impressed!

I love the Farmers Market this time of year.  It's just what I need to get me in the mood for Fall. They also have the best ice cream in town.

I swear we didn't all plan on wearing stripes, it just happened!

I'm so thankful that Emily got to come and meet Liam. I know Liam will love her just as much as I do.

Liam: 2 months

Weight: 13.0 pounds (50-75%)
Height: 24 inches (85-95%)
Head Circumference: 40 (85%)

Clothes: You started off the month wearing 0-3 month clothes.  Then we slowly moved into 3 month clothes, and ended the month with 6 month clothes. Yes, you heard right.  You are 2 months old and wearing 6 month clothes. I may have shed a few tears over this. You are mainly in 6 month clothes because of your height. You are SO tall! They are huge on you width wise but a perfect fit for your length. You have a tiny waist so you are still wearing 0-3 pants/shorts with a few 6 months mixed in.

Diapers: We switched you over to size 2 diapers around 5 weeks.  They are still a perfect fit for you three weeks later. I think that has something to do with your tiny waist.

Health: You went to your two month check up and all is well with you health wise.  The only thing that we were told to work on is your neck control.  You tend to always turn your head to the right side.  This is causing a flat spot on the right side of your head.  We were given some neck exercises to do with you so we are starting those right away.  I don't think it's very serious. I had to point it out to the doctor.  I've been telling your dad for a month that I thought your head was flatter on that side. Mother's instincts are always right!

Diet: You are still only breastfed. I am heading back to work in a few weeks so I'm hoping you can stay a breastfed baby.  But, we will see how that goes! You wake up around 6:30-7:00am to eat and pretty much eat every 3 hours.  You tend to cluster feed at night, lastly only 2 hours in between feedings.  That's okay with me though, I think this helps you sleep through the night. You still take a bottle like a champ.  When you take a bottle you usually eat 4 ounces, sometimes 5. I'm still trying to figure out how many ounces you need to be satisfied. It depends on the time of day. When you go through a growth spurt, which I'm pretty sure you did around 6 weeks you want to eat all day everyday.  That is exhausting! Usually you eat 5-7 times a day.

Sleep: Ohhhh sleep! I'm so happy I have a baby who enjoys sleeping. We both enjoying sleeping so this really works out. I am a night owl and so are you.  Right now this works for us, but when I go back to work we are going to have to adjust this cycle we have going on.  I'm actually starting the transition now.  Usually you will stay up until 11:00.  Not sure how this happened, but it needs to be fixed. I feed you last around 8:30-9:00 so I'm not sure why you enjoy the late hours of the night. You aren't eating! You will wake up around 6:00-7:00am, eat, and then go back to bed until 9:00-10:00.  During the day I usually let you sleep when you want.  You will typically go 2 hours between naps and I think that works so far.  You most DEFINITELY need a nap between 5:00-6:00pm every night otherwise you are a cranky monster. If you don't sleep I throw you in the baby bjorn and you instantly pass out. If you ever get fussy the blue blanket still works wonders for you. You love snuggling and being warm. Starting ASAP we are going to try and get you used to an earlier bedtime.  Stay tuned for the 3 month update to see how that turns out!

Likes: boppy pillow, warm fuzzy blankets, paci, being bounced and laying on your back (you could literally do this for hours), talking with people, listening to music, windows, ceiling fans, listening to people talk and make funny faces, baths, getting your diaper changed, being held upright close to people's chest, walking around, walks, being in the baby carrier, car rides, and being outside

Dislikes: having a dirty diaper, being hungry, rocking to sleep, burping in between feedings, getting your nails clipped

Milestones: The biggest one happened at 5 weeks and 1 day. You smiled! It was the best thing ever. You have smiled since you were born but it was random and not directed at anyone or anything. This was a real genuine smile.  You have been smiling ever since! You are very vocal this month.  You cue and grunt constantly. You love when people talk back to you. You are definitely tracking things with your eyes. You will move your head and follow objects. You still randomly bat at toys, I don't think it's intentional yet. You had your first babysitters this month. Yes, that's right.  It's plural.  Your dad and I went out on two dates. Your first babysitter was the Stewart family. Lane and Grant loved having you there, so I think you will be allowed back! :) Your second babysitters were Aunt Erin and Cousin Becky. I'm glad you are not picky on who is holding you or watching you.  It makes our life a lot easier! Your tummy time is getting a lot better.  You still don't love it, but will tolerate it. Your neck is definitely getting very strong!

Personality: You are a very happy baby. You are most happy in the mornings and get a little cranky at night. You LOVE talking. You are so happy when someone will talk back to you, and you still love when your daddy sings to you. You love going out in public, something we are very thankful for.  You are observant and quiet like your mom and will sit calmly and take everything in. You prefer being held and love walking around the house looking at everything. As you can see above you have far more likes than dislikes.  Overall you are pretty easy to please.

Visitors: Aunt Emily, Aunt Erin, and Cousin Becky

It's okay Liam - we don't want you to grow up either!
