Liam: 3 months

Weight: 13.5 pounds
Height:

Clothes: You are wearing 6 month clothes.  You can still fit into some 3 month clothes: a few pants and sweatshirts.  I already packed away most of your 0-3 clothes.  That was a sad day!

Diapers: Still wearing a size 2. You have been in this size for 8 weeks, and they are still a perfect fit. Thank goodness!!

Health: You didn't have any doctor appointments this month.  Your next appointment is at 4 months. I would say my number one concern for you is still the flat spot on the back of your head. We are constantly moving your head and encouraging you to look the other direction.  You have really great neck control and do really well at tummy time.  I have read a lot of things on "flat head" and they all say that tummy time is super important.  Luckily, you don't mind it. Your dad thinks I'm crazy for worrying so much. Overall you are a very healthy babe.  You haven't been sick and have only had an occasional stuffy nose.

Diet: You are still only breastfed.  This month I went back to work so you have been taking more bottles than normal.  You are a great eater.  You typically go 2.5-3 hours in-between feedings. You eat an average of 6-7 times a day.  When you drink a bottle you eat between 4-5 ounces.

Sleep: You are still an amazing sleeper.  Since you started at daycare your new schedule is bath time at 7:00, play/read stories at 7:15, eat around 7:45 and then you go to bed.  You always fall asleep on either your dad or myself out in the living room.  We carry you into your bed once we know you are asleep, usually 30 minutes later.  I think we keep you out with us more for our benefit than yours.  We just really enjoy our snuggle time! You sleep through the night and wake up between 6:15-7:00. You never wake up fussy.  You lay in bed kicking your legs in the air until we come and get you.  As soon as you see us, you smile! We never get you out of bed until your dad and I BOTH get a smile and it works every time.  It's probably our favorite time of the day. You started sleeping in your pack and play full time at 12 weeks.  During the day you typically take 3 naps.  Some days you will cat nap and other days you will crash for hours.  You still get fussy around 5-6pm, so we try and encourage a nap around this time.

Likes: sucking your fingers, cuddling on our chests, butt pats (this always helps you fall asleep), being sung to, talking, kicking your legs, being tickled, paci, blankets, baths, being outside, being out in public, watching tv, fireplace, being on the changing table, looking at yourself and us in the mirror, being naked

Dislikes: getting your diaper changed first thing in the morning, being left alone for a long period of time, getting your nails clipped, too much tummy time, burping when you aren't done eating

Milestones: at 9 weeks you laughed and rolled over from your tummy to your back for the first time. We first heard you laugh one morning when you were just in your diaper and I was tickling your belly. You have a deep man laugh and it's the cutest thing I've ever heard! You first started rolling over when you were just in your diaper and now you will do it all the time. At 10 weeks you first held on to a rattle.  You are still not the best with this and this is something we are still working on.  You will shake a rattle for a few seconds and then try and chew on it for a little awhile. At 10 weeks you sat in your bumbo for the first time.  You have really awesome neck control with all your tummy time.  You can't be left alone in the bumbo but we are practicing! At 10 weeks you slept for 12 hours straight! That was a great night. At 11.5 weeks you started daycare and I went back to work. This month you started sucking your fingers.  I feel like self soothing is a milestone. I think it's important for you to be able to calm yourself down and not be so dependent on your paci. It was so cute when you started noticing your hands and fingers.  You are now starting to notice your feet.  It's only a matter of time before your toes are in your mouth!

Personality: You are such a happy baby! You are usually smiling and/or laughing.  It's so easy to get you to smile now. Of course as soon as I get the camera you immediately stop! You still have far more likes than dislikes.  You are typically easy to please and only get upset when you are hungry or tired. Both of these are easy to fix! My favorite thing is to make you laugh.  One night I discovered that your feet and armpits are ticklish.  It was the best discovery ever! I LOVE picking you up from daycare.  As soon as you see me you give me a huge smile.  One day I even got some giggles. I can't wait to watch you grow.  I hope you are always this happy.

NC state fair

Liam got to go to his first state fair in October. I was super excited to take him.  When I told people that I was taking my infant to the state fair they looked mortified.  "How could you take him there?" "Do you know how many diseases are there?" Etc. Etc. I couldn't not take him!! I look forward to the state fair every year, it's the only time it's acceptable to eat fried oreos!!

Needless to say, Liam survived! I actually think he had a great time.  He got to travel in his "big boy" stroller, lots of people watching, and he even took a nap! Sounds like a great day to me!

Halloween Part 2

Yes! I'm a little ashamed to admit this, but we did this.  It was completely my idea and Greg was freaking out the whole time.  He was upset that Liam was crying and screaming the whole time.  Did he think he would smile?!?

Don't worry, we had a warm bath waiting for him.

One of my friends had a baby girl in October.  While I was at the hospital visiting I saw this adorable pumpkin hat.  Ladies made these and then donated them to the hospital for the newborns. I went on a mission to find a pumpkin hat for Liam. Success! Lucky for him, we had a little photo shoot at home.

LOVE our little pumpkin!

Aunt Erin and Cousin Becky

Way back in September (yes this post is almost two months late) we had a visit from Aunt Erin and Cousin Becky.  Greg and I were so excited for their visit.  If anyone is an expert in babies it's these two!  They were great with Liam.  Greg and I were even able to sneak away for a date night to Bonefish.  We had a wonderful weekend hanging out a home, eating some great food, visiting another pumpkin patch, and once again going to the Farmers Market.

Pumpkin Patch

Way back in September we went to a really fun pumpkin patch.  It was a beautiful day, sunny and hot - just the way I like it! It had a lot of neat things for kids: pumpkin launcher, playground, hayride, train ride, corn maze, farm animals, etc.  It made me really excited for next year. I'm sure Liam will love it! I can't wait to start traditions with our family and continue them every year. This is a place we will definitely visit year after year.

When we got there we decided to use the baby carrier.  It wasn't the best decision since it was so sunny out.  We had to get creative on how to protect Liam from the sun. (First time parent problems!)

You know the headless horseman? Well - we had the headless baby!

The only thing we did was walk through the corn maze.  There were a few times we thought we were going to get lost in the maze, but luckily we made our way through it. It didn't help that Greg lost the giant orange flag they give you in case you do get lost.  Yes! He lost it! Ha!

Having a one and a half month old definitely limited the things we were able to do.  But - we still had a blast!

On the way out we couldn't pass these up! His face cracks me up.

Until next year...

KC and Liam

Everyone always asks how KC is doing.  I honestly think she likes Liam. She is still unsure of him and wonders what the heck happened to her mom. I think she will like him way more once he can interact with her.  I'm pretty sure her favorite part will be when he drops food all over the floor.

For now I'd say KC tolerates Liam. I'll let the pictures speak for themselves.
