Babymoon

A babymoon?? What the heck is that??  I have heard of a honeymoon but never a babymoon.  To me it sounded like a made up holiday, kind of like Sweetest Day.  Greg had never heard of Sweetest Day either so apparently that's just a holiday for people in Ohio.

I become more and more interested in this whole babymoon idea and I decided to look a little more into it.

Online it says this:

babymoon

noun[countable]
a special holiday taken by parents-to-be before their first baby is born

Sweet! I'm sold!! It sounds like a great idea to me. So Greg and I are about to set sail on a wonderful babymoon just the two of us.  It's a special holiday just for parents-to-be and that's exactly what we are!

Caribbean, we will see you soon!!

We are having a BOY!!!

We found out on March 11th that we are having a BOY! Here are some thoughts that went through my head when we found out the sex:

1. I knew it! Moms always know!
2. Crap, I have to live with boys.  Boys are smelly and dirty!
3. I am constantly going to have to check for the toilet seat.
4. Girls have way more cute clothes than boys, I wonder if he will mind wearing headbands?
5. Greg is going to be so happy! He has a little man to play basketball with.
6. KC is still my baby GIRL.
7. Boys love their mommas! He will be obssessed with me.

As soon as Greg found out we were having a boy he threw off his pink tie and said "I KNEW IT, THATS WHAT I WANTED!"

Needless to say we are both really excited and nervous to be having a boy.  But apparently it's what we both wanted.

Here are the pictures from the doctor's appointment.  I still have to do a 9 week ultrasound post, so please don't mind this blog being all out of order.  Such is life!

Our baby boy!! Doesn't he have the cutest nose ever?? And it definitely appears he has his dad's chin.  I'm quite alright with that!

His foot
At the bottom right it looks like he is doing a "loser" sign with his hands.  A punk already!!

And the picture that tells it all...it's a BOY!

The appointment went really well.  The doctor was running late and Greg and I were just anxiously awaiting to hear if we would be having a boy or girl. The technician was super nice and went really slow with us. She measured his head, arms, legs, etc.  You name it, it got measured.  It was really neat to see his arm, feet, legs, and heart. He was asleep at first laying on his back but was awoken from a few jabs to the side.  He moved around a little and then just wanted to sleep.  He curled up laying on his stomach holding both hands under him.  Luckily while he was sleeping on his stomach he threw his butt up in the air.  This is when we were able to find out he was indeed a BOY!  The last picture shows his two butt cheeks!

Everything measured great on him.  The doctors were very pleased with his growth and everything was right on schedule to where he should be.  He already was weighing a whopping 9 ounces.  Every week I check his average weight and size on The Bump website. (LOVE that website!)  At this point in my pregnancy he should be weighing around 5.5 ounces.  They said not to worry and he looked great! The only negative from the appointment is that my placenta was a little closer than they would like to my cervix. They said not to worry and they would do another ultrasound at 28 weeks.  This ultrasound was supposed to be our last, so I was a little excited to find out we would be having another chance to see our babe.  I don't really know much about the placenta and cervix but I do know that there are plenty of doctors that do. So I'm not going to worry about it! HE is healthy and that is all that matters.

Now for picking the name......UGH! We were set on a girl's name.  We went into the appointment and said if it's a SHE she will be Amelia Grace.  A boy!??  Crap! This poor kid isn't going to have a name until we leave the hospital.  We just can't commit to a name.  This name will be with him for his WHOLE life.  It's a pretty big deal. For now, he is "Little Man."

Boy or Girl???

Monday is the BIG day.  We have been waiting for this day since December 4th. We will finally learn what our sweet babe is.  Will it be a boy??? Will it be a girl??? If you ask Greg he still thinks girl.  I thought girl the entire first trimester, but now I am thinking we are having a boy.  I told Greg we were going to wear our "colors" to the doctor appointment on Monday. He agreed until he realized he was going to have to wear pink.  He is being a good sport about it and decided on a pink tie.

As soon as we tell people what we are having the next question is going to be, "Well what names have you picked out??" As of now these are the names (in no particular order):

Girl: Amelia Grace, Olivia, Eleanor (Ellie or Ele), Logan, Reese, Caroline (middle name only)

Boy: Wilson, Jack, Charlie, Jacob

Naming a person is a HUGE responsibility.  I am not taking this lightly. I like a new name every week.  Some of my current favorite names aren't even on the list.

Old Wives Tales

1. If the heartbeat is high (over 140 beats per minute) it's a girl.  If it's lower, it's a boy.

This is a little confusing for us.  At first the baby's heartbeat was 180 (definitely thinking girl at this point).  The heartbeat lowered to 165 and then was 140 at our last appointment.  So I'm going to say "boy" wins for this round because it is considered low.

2. If you are craving sweet things, it's a girl.  If you are craving salty or sour things, it's a boy.

This is also a little confusing for us because I'm not craving either. I'm really liking fruit! I usually prefer sour things over anything else so I'll say "boy" wins this round as well.

3. If you are carrying a girl she will steal your beauty, you will break out with acne.  If you are having a boy this won't happen.

I don't have a ton of acne, but it has definitely gotten worse since I've been pregnant. I also have really dry skin.  I'll say "girl" for this one.

4. If your husband is gaining sympathy weight you are having a girl.  If not, it's a boy.

Greg hasn't gained any weight, so "boy" for this round.

5. Jewelry Speaks.  Hold your ring on a string over your stomach.  If the ring moves side to side you are having a girl, it the ring moves in a circle expect a boy.

Kaylee and I tried this out and the wedding ring moved side to side.  "Girl!"

6. Morning Sickness?  If you have morning sickness you are a having a girl, if you don't you are having a boy.

I've had very little morning sickness, "boy" again.

7. The Chinese Birth Chart.  This looks at the mother's age at time of conception as well as the month of conception to determine what the gender will be.

According to this we are having a "boy."

If these wives tales were true, we would for sure be having a boy.  I guess we will find out Monday!!

So what do you think????
