Liam: 11 Months

Weight: 21 pounds

Clothes:  You are wearing 12 months in everything.  Your pants/shorts are big on you so sometimes you will wear your 9 month clothes. You have a tiny waist!

Diapers: You are in size 3 during the day and wearing size 4 at night. We bumped you up to a bigger size at night because you are going longer stretches during the night. This way we don't have to worry about you being too full if you happen to wake up during the night.

Health: You are have been super healthy this month, so thankful for that!

Diet: You still nurse 4 times a day. I have been home with you the majority of the month so it has been nice to be able to feed you.  You nurse in the morning when you wake up, around 11:30, 3:30, and then again before you go to bed.

At the beginning of your 10th month you decided you didn't want a bottle anymore.  You refused them from your grandma while I was at work.  She tried a cup and we haven't looked back.  You always have a cup with a straw.  We skipped the sippy cup completely.  You even took breast milk from me in a cup.  You have water all day long, and will usually finish a whole cup throughout the day.  You love your water!

Since I was home with you I tried really hard to push the solids.  You did great with them! You no longer have your fruit pureed. We only are pureeing your vegetables.  A typical breakfast consists of blueberry pancakes and banana.  For lunch you have cheese, turkey, bread, and a fruit. You love yogurt! A typical dinner is turkey meatballs with broccoli and cauliflower puree.

This month you decided you hated vegetables.  When we left them whole you would find them in your food and spit them out.  You even started making a gagging sound when veggies went in your mouth.  So we are sticking to the purees for now. You don't seem to mind them then.  Whatever works!

Ever since you have started solids you literally can't get enough.  You normally end a meal by crying.   You are so sad when they end.  This month you have stopped this.  I think you have finally realized you will get fed again later in the day.

Sleep: You still aren't the biggest fan of sleep, and you are still a night owl.  You would prefer to stay up and see what everyone is up to than go to sleep.  You fight sleep, both at night and during the day. We are used to it by now, and it's just the way it is.  You still enjoy being rocked, sung to, and held while we are standing. Luckily, your grandma was in town for the majority of this month.  It was so nice because she loved putting you to sleep.  She took over the bath routine and rocking you to sleep.  This allowed your dad and I to get dinner ready and eat at a reasonable time.

You still take two naps a day.  Your longest nap is your first nap around 10:00.  This nap can last 2 whole hours.  As much as I love hanging out with you it is super nice to have some time to myself. I can actually get something done around the house. Your next nap is around 2:00 - 3:00.  This nap usually lasts around an hour or hour and a half.  Since grandma was here this month you are being a little spoiled during your naps. She enjoys snuggling with you. Once she is gone you are moving back to your crib for nap time!

Likes: mama, mama, mama!! talking, standing, cruising around the furniture, music, books, being thrown up in the air, dancing, hiding under blankets (forts), playing peek a boo, pulling EVERYTHING off your changing table shelves, looking at people and smiling when you know you did something you aren't supposed to do, swings

Dislikes: being taken from your mama, seeing your mama and not being held by her, having water poured on your head in the bath, going to sleep

Milestones: this month you went to the beach for the first time, you give high fives, and you are starting to mimic what we do. The most common thing you have picked up is clicking your tongue.  You think it is so funny.  My favorite thing you started this month is kissing! You prefer the wide open mouth kiss full of slobber. You also started walking with our assistance around the house.  You look like such a big boy! At the beginning of month 10 you started sitting in the bath tub by yourself.  This is a pretty big deal because now you are in the bathtub all alone (no baby tub!). You like it for the most part, but you HATE having water poured on your head.  We haven't quite figured out how to avoid this so it is what it is for now. You have become interested in everything.  Since we have been practicing walking around the house you are becoming more and more comfortable cruising around the furniture. Since your curiosity has increased we have to keep an eye on you at all times.  We started baby proofing the house this month, first up: outlet covers! We ended the month on a family vacation to Florida.  You actually started the vacation by turning 11 months old!

Personality: You are an awesome kid.  We are so lucky to call you our son! You are funny and mischievous. You are beginning to understand when something is wrong and smile as you do something you know you shouldn't be doing.  For example: when you see my cell phone on the ground you will make move in that direction as fast as you can, grab the phone, and then turn and smile at me.  Your temper has come out more this month.  Boy, can you have a temper! It's hard to not laugh at you, and it's also hard not to give in and give you what you want.

Visitors: Grandma
