Liam: 9 months

Weight: 19 pounds 5 ounces
Height:  27.5 inches
Head Circumference:

Clothes: You are in 9-12 month clothes.  We have you in all 12 month PJs right now, and you have begun wearing some of your 12 month clothes. I was getting sick of your 9 month clothes and a lot of them were for cooler weather. So I'm slowly doing the laundry and switching you over for the warmer weather.  You have a lot of cute shorts in 12 months. I'm excited to show off your chunky legs!!

Diapers: I just ordered size 4. Technically you can still fit in size 3, but they are getting a little snug.

Health: I'm happy to report that you have been super healthy this month! We haven't been sick at all. I think you have developed somewhat of a seasonal allergy this month.  For a few weeks you would wake up with puffy/red eyes and a super stuffy nose.  Luckily, you were good as new an hour later.

Diet: You still eat 3 meals a day.  You have fruit/oatmeal in the mornings, veggie/fruit for lunch, and veggie/protein for dinner. This month you were introduced to broccoli, watermelon, oranges, chicken, and quinoa, At your 9 month appointment we were given the go from the doctor to pretty much let you eat anything.  This makes me super nervous. I never pureed your watermelon. I gave it to you whole in super tiny pieces.  You gagged.  Like full on choked and gagged.  It scared me to death.  I don't think you are quite ready for whole foods .. so I'm going to keep you on pureed for a little while longer. The only whole foods you get are Puffs.  You love them.

The major change from last month is that you dropped a bottle. You only take 2 bottles at daycare, once around noon and the other around 4 PM. This was such a relief.  I can only pump 2 bottles throughout the day so I can now give you exactly what you need.  You haven't been on formula at all this month!!

Sleep: This month you have been such a great sleeper. You still go to bed pretty late (between 9-10) but you are sleeping through the night for the most part.  There will be an occasional night that you wake up in the middle night, but you are pretty easy to get back to sleep. Some mornings, your dad and I even have to wake you up! I know you are never supposed to wake a baby, and normally we don't, but I have to nurse you before I leave for work.

I feel like this month you have really gotten on a schedule.  I've been waiting for this! You take 2 naps a day. You usually sleep anywhere from 45 minutes to 2 hours. Your morning nap is usually your longest.  You have dropped your night time nap this month.  I figured dropping this would make you go to sleep earlier at night, but that just isn't the case.

When your routine gets interrupted it ruins your whole day/night. If we go out with friends we make sure to be home by 8:00.  If we get home later you get crankier and crankier and won't go to bed until much later. You don't sleep in public.  You LOVE to people watch, so I try and stick around the house around nap time.  If we are out and about running errands I can always count on you sleeping in the car.  Even if it's a 5 minute drive.  You love sleeping in the car. However, most days, 5 minute naps don't cut it.

Likes: dancing, playing peek-a-boo, musical toys, peter cotton tail dancing rabbit, being tossed up and down in the air, looking at mirrors, eating food, drinking water from a cup, standing (with help), walker

Dislikes: laying on the changing table, going to sleep, being taken from your mom

Milestones: Your biggest milestone this month is mobility.  You aren't crawling yet, but you are definitely getting where you want to go. I will put you in your playroom while I go to the kitchen and when I come back you are in a new spot playing with a toy. You scoot on your butt or twist and turn to where you need to go. You started waving this month.  It's mostly a two handed wave, but it's the cutest thing I've ever seen! You love your walker! You literally run around the kitchen as fast as you can in that thing. KC and I crowd on the kitchen mat because we know you can't run over our toes there. This month you said your first word: Dada! You whispered it for a few days. Then one day you just screamed it at the top of your lungs. It was while your dad was changing your diaper. I was putting away laundry and pretended not to hear it. I so wanted mama to be your first word! Also, this month you started sitting up in the bath tub. You are still in your whale tub, but you just discovered that you can sit up in it.

Personality: Oh Liam, I love you more and more each month. Sometimes I look at you and get sad because I think, "This will be the smallest you will ever be!" But then I think of how every month I say, "This is the best month ever!" You are so happy. Well, 90% of the time.  You hate going to sleep.  Like seriously, hate it! You scream and cry until you just give up, and then you are fast asleep.  You are a fighter! This month you have especially become a mama's boy.  You cry when I come into the room, cry when I leave the room, and cry when I put you down.  Sometimes it can be rather exhausting, but I love it so much! Don't worry, you still think your dad is the most hilarious person ever.  We love you so much and can't wait for the coming months.  For now, we are enjoying the non-mobile baby - the one we can put down and know he is safe. Our worlds are about to be rocked in the next month or two.  We all have a lot to look forward to!
