Liam: 7 Months

Weight: 18 pounds 8 ounces (with clothes on)

Clothes: You are in all 9 month clothes.  Some of your pants are still a little big on you, but you wear them anyway.  Your shirts are a perfect fit, and so are your PJS.

Diapers: Size three, still!

Health: We started off the month pretty healthy.  You had a cough pretty much the whole month.  You mainly got it when you were really excited about something.  It also came on when you were laughing.  We called it your "ice cream" cough.  Your dad always makes fun of me, because whenever I eat ice cream I cough! The last week of your 6th month your health took a turn.  I decided to take you in to the doctor for your month long cough.  You started getting gunk in your eye, especially in the morning. They put you on an antibiotic, thinking it was just a sinus infection. The next day you started a fever.  The fever lasted 3 days, topping off at 102.5. Your dad and I took turns staying home with you and you fought through it.  You did a lot of crying and sleeping for those 3 days. You healed just in time, we enjoyed some wonderful 65 degree weather the weekend of your 7th month.

Diet: Nothing new has changed since last month.  You still take 4 formula bottles a week. (Monday-Thursday). You have 3 6 ounce bottles at daycare, and nurse in the morning and at night with me. I tried to bring your bottles down to 5 ounces, but you noticed and threw a crying fit at daycare. They feed you every 3 hours on the dot.  When you are home with me, you don't nurse that often. You are happy and definitely well fed.

You still love your solids.  We added cantaloupe, peas, green beans, and plums to your diet.  We also started you on oatmeal with your meals. I have started you on a real solid food, bananas. I no longer mash them up.  You will grab the tiny pieces in your fist and then put your thumb in your mouth.  You aren't eating any bananas, but you are beginning to learn that you can feed yourself with your hands.  We mix all your pureed food in one bowl, the easier the better! The doctor suggested we added oatmeal to give you some iron. Whatever the doctor says!!

You love to drink water from my cup. I started giving you a sippy cup, but you prefer the plain old cup. You have graduated from the bumbo chair and now sit in your high chair.  You eat twice a day.  I usually give you between 3-4 ounces (cubes) for each meal.  I started doing baby sign language with you for "all done." When I do the sign you usually start to cry. I think it's hilarious! Sorry, you have the cutest cry in the world.

Sleep: You are a crazy cat napper.  You can take anywhere from 2-4 naps a day.  Typically, you only require 20-45 minutes. If you sleep on one of us you will take a longer nap. You normally take 2 naps at daycare and usually need a nap after dinner.  I used to try to keep you awake, but you are just so cranky without it.

We started a strict bed time routine at night.  We found this helped you go to sleep, because you knew what was coming.  You hate going to bed.  You scream and cry. Your bed time routine consists of a bath, lotion, PJs, nursing, and we try to squeeze a book in there.

To be honest, your dad and I are horrible at night time.  We love our sleep.  As soon as we hear you stirring upstairs we freak out and decide what is the fastest way to get you back to sleep.  I don't want to nurse you at night unless you are sick or extremely restless. I don't want you to get used to the idea of waking up in the middle of the night. I know you are well fed! However, as soon as I go upstairs I nurse you. I tell myself on the way to your room that I'm not going to nurse you and I'll just rock you back to sleep.  You scream and cry. I almost scream and cry, so I cave and nurse you.  We found it was much easier for your dad to go upstairs. He is way stronger than I am! I also think you respond better to him at night.  You get way more upset when you see me.

We went through many nights this month where you would sleep in your dad's arms and then as soon as he put you down you would wake up.  It was exhausting for everyone. There were many nights you slept on the couch upstairs with your dad or you slept in bed with me. I read so many websites about what to do.  The best advice I read was: do whatever to make sure everyone gets the sleep they need. Done! We will deal with this issue next month, hopefully!

Likes: baths, being tickled, your momma (this makes my really happy), being thrown in the air (safely of course), mirrors, sitting on our shoulders

Dislikes: getting dressed, diaper changed, going to bed

Milestones: To be honest, I'm doing this post a month late. I've been busy (with you of course!) Your major milestones this month was rolling over from your back to your stomach.  You still don't have any teeth, I've been telling people you have been teething forever. I'm scared for when this really does happen. You reach for your dad and I when you want to be picked up.  And, you definitely know your dad and I are your parents.  You get so excited when we walk in the room.  You have a different personality with each of us. Your dad is the funny one, and I'm the one you want to cuddle with. You think everything new is funny. For example: your dad started dribbling the ball outside and you died laughing. You continue to like to stand. You are beginning to pull yourself up, but you still need a lot of help from us. You love playing with toys. You still really like plastic rings and anything that makes noise. You t
hink it's hilarious when I put your paci in my mouth.  You reach up, grab it, and put it immediately in your mouth.

Personality: You are a happy happy boy! This makes us happy happy parents. People comment all the time how calm and quiet you are.  When we are out in public you are wide awake taking everything in. You love car rides, they instantly put you to sleep. But, as soon as we get somewhere you are so observant of everything going on. You love your momma! In my opinion, you are the best cuddler in town. I love this. I hope you will always snuggle with me. Your dad can always make you laugh. You have the best laugh! It's so contagious.

Visitors: We traveled to Charlotte.  You got to see Ava, Michelle, Kader, Beef, and Nicole.  It was a great weekend!
